The coachbuilt Barker Body was grafted onto the standard DB 18 Chassis but fitted with an excellent overdrive gearbox making this car a very relaxing long distance cruiser. While no great shakes in its performance the classiness of the car is best appreciated when you consider it as a package. Mixing gracious styling with a drop head, fabulous comfort and adequate performance this car was described by writers of the period as “gentlemen’s motoring with a difference”.
This car was originally dark red over cream, resprayed dark blue over cream and finally all over yellow in the 1970s, it is a club icon and much seen at Club events where it is always popularly received.
While a heavy car, and with only a 2.566 litre straight six under the bonnet, it can happily cruise all day at 100 kmh and the suspension is a wonderful compromise of roadholding and comfort.
