A -Spec Cars

It would be more accurate to describe these cars as Basic, rather than A-Spec, to avoid confusion with dates of production, chassis modifications and so on. In this case, including the 6 prototype chassis, 1924 Basic cars were produced, although after April 1961, every car which left the factory had B-Spec upgrades.

B -Spec Cars

A total of 474 cars left the factory as pure B-Spec models. These cars started life in December 1960 with chassis 102627, although it would be more accurate to say from 102731 onwards, as this is when B-Spec batches started to appear.

Additional features: 3-piece hoop under the dashboard, connected through the A-posts to the sill beams, strengthening the scuttle and helping steering column rigidity. Rear uprights, or B-posts, for better strength between rear outriggers and body, new sill beams, bolted to extended outriggers.

Full width front and rear bumpers with over-riders, a petrol reserve and switch, screen washer unit, exhaust finishes and adjustable steering column, better padding in new horseshow-design front seats with carpetted backs,elasticised door pockets replaced by rigid box style


C -Spec Cars

A total of 256 cars left the factory as pure C-Spec models. They were produced from February 1963; the earliest chassis number being 104162 which was delivered to Mountergate Motors.
